Background and Legal Career

Ben grew up in Bucks County and continues to reside in the Philadelphia region. Ben has been actively handling injured worker cases since July of 2006 when he completed the bar exam and began clerking for the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board. Ben attended Widener’s Commonwealth Law School in Harrisburg and in addition to a JD, he earned a certificate from the Law & Government Institute where the studies focused on the practice before Administrative Law Judges and government agency review and appeal. Before law school Ben received a BS in Communications from Cornell University where his studies included courses in Insurance & Risk Management and Business Law.

Ben’s legal practice has been focused in the field of workers’ compensation. After clerking for Commissioner Robert Krebs at the Appeal Board Ben began practicing at a boutique law firm in Philadelphia representing insurance carriers and self-insured employers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims. Since then he has been providing strategy advice to clients on all aspects of Pa workers’ compensation claims from acceptance versus denial decisions through the entire claims litigation and handling process along with matters before the Appeal Board and Pennsylvania Appellate Courts.

In 2015 Ben was certified as a specialist in the practice of Workers' Compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Section on Workers Compensation Law as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Ben brings to The Moritz Law Group extensive experience gained through his years of working and learning claims handling strategy at large regional law firms in their workers’ compensation departments. Prior to joining The Moritz Law Group, Ben represented employers and self-insured entities in the Center City Philadelphia Office of the law firm of Weber Gallagher Simpson Staples Fires & Newby, LLP. Before that, he was an associate attorney in the workers’ compensation department at Swartz Campbell also in Center City Philadelphia.
